Our Story

Founded and led by Paul Spinoglio, JBN Cafe reflects decades of experience and passion in the hospitality industry. Paul’s journey began in being employed in the hospitality industry all of his working life. Raised in motels, and pubs, and after studying accounting at University, Paul started as a steward working on Hayman Island Resort in the Whitsunday Islands. After working his way up to Chief Steward, and taking advantage of cross training opportunities, on the island, Paul was offered the Chief Stewards position for the opening of the new Sydney Harbour Casino and then Star City. This new beginning also saw Paul move into front of house roles; operating and managing a 600 seat buffet restaurant, and a 120 seat steak and seafood restaurant.

After a further five years Paul then moved back to the Gold Coast to take on the role of Banquets & Events Manager at Conrad Jupiter’s Hotel and Casino before being promoted to Food & Beverage Manager. Whilst this presented another enjoyable challenge, owning and operating his own business remained a burning desire, and this drove Paul to commence searching for a café business that would allow him to realise his dreams. On completion of the purchase of JBN Café, Paul spent five years building up the business, before completing a major refurbishment in 2009 which reflects today’s busy 90 seat award winning café.
